EPDM is the most popular material for both new and reroof low-slope roofing applications.
Based on ethylene propylene diene monomer, the versatile membrane offers a variety of installation
options including fully adhered, ballasted or mechanically attached that deliver superior long-term
weatherability and exhibit exceptional wind uplift resistance. Bade Roofing offers the following EPDM
installation options:
Fully Adhered EPDM
A fully adhered system attaches the membrane to a suitable substrate by means of contact adhesive spread on
the underside of the membrane and the underlaying substrate. The primary
advantage to this type of system is that it is lightweight, does not have severe slope limitations and is
easy to maintain.
Mechanically Attached EPDM
Mechanically Attached Systems offer an economical installation method on buildings where the roof deck will
provide sufficient pull out resistance for the fastening system and where the roof slope does not exceed 1:3.
Ballasted EPDM
A ballasted roofing system provides attachment by positioning weight (either by cementitious paver block, river
washed stones, or pavers) on top of the roof assembly to hold in place the insulation and the roof membrane.
Ballasted roofing systems offer a lower initial installed cost than other roofing systems; and higher wind
ratings (up to 120 m.p.h.) are available with certain configurations of paver ballasted systems only.
